The defraggler program shows that the drive health shows an error and there is a potential problem with the Reallocation Sector Count. By configuring Carbonite to NOT look for files to backup in your "Applications" folder for example, at least for me, I saw dramatically lower CPU rates. While the customer service personnel are courteous, they are not very knowledgeable when it comes to explaining why I'm having this problem, and at this point in the process, they're implying I also find that pausing the backup often has no effect - it keeps running!
