I just replaced one of my CD drives in case it was bad. The GPT header defines the range of logical block addresses that are usable by partition entries. The MBR is loaded with the boot.img file, and the boot.img file's only function is to load core.img. BleepingComputer is being sued by Enigma Software because of a negative post of SpyHunter.

I had used catchme.exe before he got that error, to see if there are any infections.. It showed the file c:\documents and settings\padmanabhan2\local settings\temp running but I went to the location I couldn't see the file.. For example, does cylinder alignment mean that each partition must be at least one cylinder in length. check my blog I would just like to know if it sounds like this HDD is toast before I spend the money on an external enclosure.
Thanx. The protective MBR area exists on a GPT partition table for backward compatibility with disk management utilities that operate on MBR. Shutdown the computer!
MBR or GPT for SSD?

- These tools are not aware of GPT and do not know how to properly access a GPT disk.

UEFI presents itself in the form of a small FAT32 partition at the very beginning of the hard drive. MBR disks support only four partition table entries. The core.img exists in the next 32k of disk space (between sector's 1-63).
