Problems W/ Elan Smart Pad Software


Anyway, after the update the touchpad did not function correctly. I have download and install ATK and Asus Smart Gesture mentioned above (4.0.9, 4.0.6, even older version like v2.28) but it still didn't work.   1. If you haven't already upgraded, it's probably worth disabling the update altogether.
  2. After looking through your site here, i came across someone having had success with the version 2.2.8, and i thought to give it a go.It worked!!!!
  3. After reboot, I received an error message from Windows Update saying that the driver installation was not successful.
  4. On latest build, updated this morning.
  5. What happened for me was Microsoft kept using a generic trackpad for my multitouch/gesture Elan touchpad; I was able to "force" it to use the ETD Drivers this way.
  6. I had the same touchpad problem on my Zenbook UX32VD, no matter what versions of ATK and ASG i installed, i never worked, it actually never even looked like my laptop

As I have no confidence in that computer, I just purchased a new one, a Toshiba laptop. Yeah, we are not your customer, the OEMs are, but ultimately the end user sentiment is "Elan is crap".
